5th May’ 2013: Bio-fuels/Health Check up Camp & Blood donation camp

Kalimpong Science Centre has organized following programs on 5th May’2013:

(i)         Free health check up camp: This programme was supported by medical team of Kalimpong Sub-Divisional Hospital and Sadar Hospital, Darjeeling. Dr. Biswanath Saha and Dr. A. K. Biswas from Kalimpong Sub-Divisional Hospital and Dr. Diki Yolmo from Sadar Hospital, Darjeeling were check up the health of the peoples visiting the camp. On this day 350 peoples were check up their health.   

(ii)        Lecture on bio-fuels from Himalayan Bio-Organic Society (NGO): Mr. Mahendra Chhetri, Secretary, Himalayan Bio-Organic Society (NGO) has delivered a lecture on bio-fuels particularly on utility of briquette and its method of preparation from the agriculture wastes. 

(iii)       Lecture on Govt. benefits from Govt. Department for senior citizens: Mrs. Maya Yolmo, Secretary, Darjeeling Help Age Hills Society (NGO) has delivered lecture focusing on what the facilities from the different Govt. Dept. the senior citizen can they get. She presented some gifts to the senior persons who were present on the programme.

(iv)       Blood donation camp: With the technical supports from Kalimpong Sub-Divisional Hospital, Centre has organized blood donation camp and 21 interested persons donated their bloods. The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr. R. B. Bhujel, Executive Sabhasad, Dept. of Higher Education-GTA.

The Centre has organized astronomy awareness programme with the film show on astronomy followed by lecture. The students from Ram Dahal High School, Kalimpong has attended the programme.

2nd October’ 2013: 5th Anniversary:

Kalimpong Science Centre has observed its 5th Anniversary. The Curator of the Centre delivered a lecture on work culture.  The every staff of the Centre has spokes something from their own experience. The programme was started with lighting the diya on Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion Centre inaugurated photo exhibition of Focus Kalimpong, a photographer association of Kalimpong at the Conference Room of the Centre.      

14th Nov’ 2013: Children’s Day:

Kalimpong Science Centre has observed Children’s Day on 14th Nov’ 2014 with the following programme:

(i)                 Open house quiz for the tourists

(ii)               Sit & Draw Contest for the school students

(iii)             Science Sports such as (a) filling the water in bucket with sponge (b) filling the ball in bucket & (c) throwing of ring

5th May 2013: Blood Donation & Free Health Check Up Camp

On 5th May” 2013 Centre has organized blood donation and free health check up camp. On this day 50 peoples were donated blood in active support of medical team of Kalimpong Sub-Divisional Hospital, GTA. The doctors from Kalimpong Sub-Divisional Hospital: Dr. A. K. Biswas and the doctor from Darjeeling Eden Hospital: Dr. Dickey Yolmo was volunteered in the free health check up and nearly 350 peoples had checked up their health.

Mrs. Maya Yolmo, Secretary, Help Age Hills, Darjeeling had delivered lecture on the benefit that senior citizens could get from the Govt. Dept. Mrs. Yolmo had presented biscuits, towel and vitamin tablets to 120 old aged peoples who were present on that day.

Mr. Mahendra Chhetri, Secretary, Himalayan Bio-organic Society presented power point presentation on bio-fuels i.e. Matawla and its utility. According to him the financial burden may be reduced by using these bio-fuels.

The chief guest of the day was Dr. R. B. Bhujel, Executive Sabha Member, Dept. of Higher and Technical Education, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration.

The program was conducted by Hemanta Thapa, Education Assistant. The welcome speech was given by Dr. B. B. Gurung, Head, Kalimpong Science Centre.   

      

5th June” 2013:  Inter School Sit & Draw  Competition

On the occasion of “World Environment Day” Kalimpong Science Centre has organized plantation of trees as well as “Inter School Sit & Draw Competition”. On this competition school students had participated:
