Winter Camp (from 6th March’ 2015-5th January’ 2015):

From 6th March’ 2015-5th January’ 2015, Kalimpong Science Centre organized Winter Camp for the children and on this program 40 children in total were participated. The first day camp was started with orientations for the children along with their parents.   

On the occasion of closing ceremony of winter camp, the following dignitaries were present:

(ii)               Mr. Sangay Tshering Bhutia, Finance Officer, Dept. of Finance, GTA

(iii)             Mr. Prabin Rai, Principal, St. Peter’s School, Kalimpong

(iv)             Mr. R. P. Lama, School Board Member, WB/Headmaster, Ganesh High School

15-17, January’ 2015:
Kalimpong Science Centre participated in Krishi Mela 2015, Kalimpong organized by Dept. of Agriculture, GTA from 15-17, Dec. 2015.

  

23rd May, 2015:
Kalimpong Science Centre organized “Talks on Medicinal Plants & its Medicinal Values” and on the program Mr. J. B. Mangrati from Siliguri was invited as resource person on 23rd May, 2015.

5th June' 2015:
"World Environment Day 2015" observed by Kalimpong Science Centre. On the occasion the Centre organized tree plantations followed by lecture on medicinal plants by Shri Deven Golay (son of Pakhrin), 18th Mile, Kalimpong   

 

19th June' 2015:
Kalimpong Science Centre in collaboration with HIMSFAR (Himalayan Society for fundamental & Applied Research) organized Inter-School Painting Competition along with the following programs:
1. Release of Logo of HIMFAR
2. Cover page of P3-a scientific journal 
3. Release of Himalayan Research Journal (Vol.II, No. 1)
4. Power point presentation on Summer Solstice by Hemanta Thapa
The chief guest of the day was Mr. Samsher Ali, Food & Supply Officer, Kalimpong

 

31st July' 2015:
Kalimpong Science Centre organized “Talks on Astronomy” by Pallavi Bhatt from “Inter-University Centre for astronomy and astrophysics”, Pune and demonstration on “Toys from Trahs” by D. Chandrika.  Miss D. Chandrika is associated with University of Göttingen which is a university of higher education and research in Germany. 
She is trained in Physics with specialization in Astrophysics 
and Space sciences from Bangalore University. 

20th August' 2015:
20th August is the Nepali Language Recognition Day. It was a moment of achievement for the Indian Gorkhas when on 20th August 1992 the constitution of Indian gave recognition to Nepali language in the eight schedule of the Indian constitution.
Kalimpong Nursery Schools Welfare Association in collaboration with Kalimpong Science Centre observed Nepali Language Recognition Day with talks followed by cultural programs by the children of school students.
 

 

10-11 Sept.’ 2015:
Kalimpong Science Centre in collaboration with West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology, Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of West Bengal organized “Bengal Science Lecture’ 2015” from 10-11 Sept' 2015 followed by " Inter School Innovative Science Model Competition” on 11th Sept. 2015. The Chief Guest of the program was Dr. Rabiranjan Chattopadhyay Hon'ble Minister –in-Charge, Dept. of Science & technology, GoWB.

7th Nov” 2015:
The new scientific facility i.e. 3D Theatre has been inaugurated on 7th Nov” 2015 by Shri K. B. Yogi, Executive Director, Dept. of Education, GTA in presence of S. D. Bhutia, Finance Officer, Dept. of Finance, GTA and Shri Sonam Yogel Bhutia, Sr. Scientific Officer, DST. GoWB. The 3D Theatre has been conceived & designed by National Council of Science Museums (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) and funded by Dept. of Science & Technology, GoWB.

20th Nov” 2015:
On the occasion National Science Day, Kalimpong Science Centre in collaboration with West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology, Dept. of Science & Technology, GoWB organized Meet Our Innovators" on 20th November' 2015 inviting Mr. Bikal Rai, self made engineer (Innovator) followed by felicitation to Mr. Rai for his appreciating creative and innovative work for promoting science & technology in the regions. 

 

 

30th December' 2015:
Handicraft Product Exhibition in association with District Industries Centre, Kalimpong at Kalimpong Science Centre.
