5th January' 2019:

The Innovation Hub has organized Mentor-New Members of Innovation Hub Interactions. The program was attended by the newly joined members of Innovation Hub and conducted by Mentors of Innovation Hub.   

 

12th January’ 2019:

A talk on Gandhian Innovation was organized by inviting Sri Anuj Gurung. He is a well known innovator of Kalimpong region. The members of Innovation Hub attended in the program.

 

 

13th January’ 2019:

The Innovation Hub has organized “Draw Your Idea Contest” for the members of Innovation Hub. In this contest, the members were asked to draw a sketch on the basis of their innovative idea. The program was attended by the members of Innovation Hub.

 

 

18th January’ 2019:

The Innovation Hub has organized an “Elocution Contest” for the members of Innovation Hub up to the age of 10 years. They were asked to share their ideas and recite one poem from their school book.

 

 

 

 

 

19th January’ 2019:

A talk cum interactive program on briquette by Sri Mahendra Chhetri, Kalimpong organized for the members of Innovation Hub. Sri Chhetri delivered and interacted with the members of Innovation Hub on briquette and it’s making method from agriculture waste. The program was attended by the members of Innovation Hub.

 

 

26th January’ 2019:

The Innovation Hub has organized “Exhibition by Young Student on Innovation”. In this exhibition, the members of Innovation Hub exhibited their innovative models made by themselves. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Abhijeet Sewale, Sub-Divisional Officer, Kalimpong.

23rd February’ 2019:

The Innovation Hub has organized one day workshop on Gandhian Innovation. The session was conducted by Sri Pintu Hathi, Innovation Associate, National Innovation Foundation, Govt. of India. The program was attended by the members of Innovation Hub.

In collaboration with HIMSFAR (NGO) organized popular talk on Cancer Biology. Dr. Sunil Kaul and Renu Wadhwa from National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology, Japan delivered their talks and interacted with the students.

 

 

 

 

28th February’ 2019:

The Innovation Hub has organized one day Innovative Science Model Exhibition with the models made by members of Innovation Hub and Innovation Club of St. Augustine’s School, Kalimpong. The program was inaugurated by Fr. Jerad Lepcha, Principal, St. Augustine’s School.

 

 

 

 

 

9th April’ 2019:

As part of Membership Drive, the Innovation Hub has organized school visited at Pranami Valika Vidhyamandir HS School. Exhibition of Innovative Science Models were done by Mentors of Innovation Hub and conduct Idea contest to mobilize the school students to become members of the Innovation Hub at Kalimpong Science Centre, Kalimpong. Models created in Innovation Hub were explained to students to develop interest towards innovative works.

 

 

 

 

 

24th April’ 2019:

As part of Membership Drive, visited at Govt. Primary Teachers Training Institute, Kalimpong. Sri Surajmani Pradhan was invited as resource person. Sri Pradhan, a renowned quiz master from Kalimpong delivered a talk and shared his innovative ideas on Education & Technology and innovative teaching aids for effective teaching mythology. Exhibition of Innovative Science Models were done by Mentors of Innovation Hub to mobilize the trainees to become members of the Innovation Hub at Kalimpong Science Centre, Kalimpong.

World Vision sponsored students from Kalimpong were exposed to different facilities of Innovation Hub at Kalimpong Science Centre, Kalimpong where hands-on activities were conducted amongst the students.

As part of Membership Drive, visited at Govt. Higher Secondary School. Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh from Kalimpong District Hospital delivered a talk on Innovation in Medical Equipments. Exhibition of Innovative Science Models were done by Mentors of Innovation Hub and conduct Idea contest to mobilize the students to become members of the Innovation Hub at Kalimpong Science Centre, Kalimpong.

 

 

 

 

5th-6th June’ 2019:

Innovation Festival was organized in collaboration with National Innovation Festival – India. Innovators from different part of the country exhibited their innovative model. Schools/colleges participated in this festival. The festival was inaugurated by Smt. Dawa Lhamu Sherpa, WBCS (Exe), Executive Director, Dept. of Education-GTA. In the second day valedictory program, Dr. Abhijit Shevale, IAS, SDO, Kalimpong was present as Chief Guest. During the two days program, lecture on Innovation had organized and the school students participated in Idea Contest.

The session was conducted by Dr. Manas Pratim Das, Programme Executive, AIR, Siliguri on the topic entitled “Celebrating an achievement: 50 years of moon landing”. 11th October’ 2019:

Organized a lecture on local medicinal plants by inviting Shri Vaidhya Palden Lama who is a renowned local healer who uses traditional knowledge of local medicinal plants to treat his patients. He had brought along with him various local plants bearing medicinal qualities and explained in detail about its uses to treat respective illness. The members of the hub thoroughly enjoyed the lecture and were interested to know more about the local plants.

 

 

 

24th October’ 2019:

Organized a lecture cum demonstration of briquette by inviting Shri Mahendra Chettri. He being such a professional at making briquette explained in detail about the ingredients used to make up a white coal, the process and the exact temperature and cooling it requires and also explained the benefits of such a coal. In the end of his session he demonstrated the process of making it as he had got along with him a container or rather the coal maker itself. Not only the students but the teachers of the various Schools attending it seemed quite interested in making it.

 

 

 

 

8th November’ 2019:

Organized an Industrial Visit to Government Quinine Factory, Mungpoo. An entire bus full of members of the Hub was guided by the Mentors and Curator on the tour. Upon arrival, a Technical officer greeted and guided the members to the various sections of the factory explaining each wing meticulously. They were shown the different phases that the Cinchona bark goes through to produce Quinine. They had a thorough briefing about the labs and the process of extraction of Quinine. They were also taken to the oil refinery where huge turbines were used to supply electricity to the entire factory. This one day tour was an amazing experience for the members of the Hub as they were very keen to innovative new methods for convenient extraction of Quinine.

 

 

 

 

 

14th November’ 2019:

The 14th of November being celebrated as Children’s day, the Innovation Hub took an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the hard work of the members of the Hub by organizing a Children’s Science Fair and awarding them with certificates of appreciation for their dedication in innovating new things throughout the year. The members had prepared small but innovative models those were displayed in an exhibition in the Science Centre. The students had a gala as everyone attending the exhibition had praises for them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6th December’ 2019:

Organized a workshop by inviting Shri Ramdeo Giri who is the proprietor of a local Thukpa (noodle) factory in Kalimpong. He thoroughly spoke about the rigorous process and intensive labor involved in producing it. He not only explained about the tools and machines but also motivated the students to indulge in the idea of a startup. It was a fun and learn workshop.

 

 

 

14th December’ 2019:

Organized a lecture cum interactive session by inviting Dr. Sajeed Ali, Associate Professor, RSS (Hill Zone), UBKV, Kalimpong. He delivered a presentation on Himalayan Oranges and the decline in its production for a couple of years now. He explained meticulously about the problems and the diseases the orange tree faces. The members were keen to find an innovative solution to overcome the problem and alleviate its production.

 

 

 

 

22nd December’ 2019:

Organized a lecture cum interactive session by inviting Shri Roshan Kumar Bistha, A/T, Kumudini Homes, Kalimpong. He delivered a presentation on Chemistry of Tooth Decay. He explained meticulously about the Chemistry of Tooth Decay.
